Pertti Korhonen has been elected as the Chairman of the Helsinki Metropolitan Smart & Clean Foundation board and replaces Pekka Lundmark, who retired by rotation.
Korhonen is also the chairman of the board of DNA plc, Business Finland and Traffic Management Finland. Previously he has been the CEO of Outotec Plc and Elektrobit Plc as well as Technology Director of Nokia.
The most important duty of the new Chairman of the Board is to support Smart & Clean partners in building ambitious climate solutions in cooperation.
– The world, Finland and the Helsinki Region need new solutions that improve quality of life and limit global warming to under 1,5°C. This can be done, if we do the needed solutions in cooperation. For example, we have set the ambitious goal of closed plastic circle in the capital city region. Currently only 6% of the plastics circulate as material. Such systemic and regional solutions have a huge global demand, Pertti Korhonen says.
The Helsinki Metropolitan Smart & Clean Foundation partners are the cities: Espoo, Helsinki, Kauniainen, and Lahti, as well as the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council; businesses: Caverion, Fortum, Gaia, Gasum, Helen, KONE, Lassila & Tikanoja, Neste, Pöyry, Ramirent, Siemens, St1, YIT, and Vaisala; universities and research organisations Aalto University, Helsinki University, LUT University and VTT Technical Research Center of Finland; nationwide influencers Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of the Environment, and Business Finland.
Smart & Clean Foundation is Helsinki region cities’, businesses’, research organisations’ and the Finnish states’ five-year change project (2016-2021).
